Carla Howell is the Political Director for the national LP. In her 2000 race for U.S. Senate, she won 12% of the vote against both a Democrat (Ted Kennedy) and a Republican. The Boston Herald endorsed her 1998 race for state auditor. She headed three groundbreaking state ballot initiatives in Massachusetts to boldly cut taxes, garnering 45% of the vote for the first initiative and forcing the teachers union to spend $12 million to stop taxes from going down in the following two campaigns.
She has participated in dozens of live TV and radio debates and hundreds of media interviews; she writes for and edits LP News; and is the creator of the radio show Libertarians Working for You and the popular Libertarian game Who's Driving? She has recruited and coached hundreds of Libertarian candidates for public office.
